Seasonal Traffic Control Assistants work primarily in beautiful Uptown Sedona and assist with directing traffic and visitor questions.  The position provides the selected candidate the opportunity to interact with pedestrians, assist with directions, monitor parking and traffic situations, and offer guidance to our many tourists.

Shifts for each Seasonal Traffic Control Assistant will be in four hour increments on Fridays through Sundays and possibly Mondays during a holiday weekend. 

This part-time, spring through summer job is perfect for those looking for extra hours on the weekend. 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs traffic and pedestrian control in Uptown area, at special events, and other areas of the city.        
  • Assist the general public, provide directions and respond to questions and inquiries, relay on-site requests for assistance.
  • Positioning traffic cones, barricades, and other traffic control equipment, loading and unloading city vehicles.


Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to perform moderate physical work and to lift and carry up 25 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds.
  2. Ability to stand, climb, kneel, twist, ride, pinch, pick, reach, graph, walk, sit, bend, crawl, push, pull and perform a variety of similar body movements. 
  3. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.  
  4. Ability to stand, walk, bend or squat for long periods of time.  
  5. Develop, implement and administer goals, objectives and procedures.  
  6. Ability to hear and communicate effectively with others.


Working Conditions:

Possible exposure to traffic noise, blowing dust, vehicle fumes and inclement weather.

This part-time position does not include health insurance, vacation or flex time benefits. However, Arizona State Retirement benefits may be activated if the employee is hired to work more than twenty hours per week.



Flagger certification highly desired, but not required.  Certification can be provided after hire at no cost to the employee.
