Street striping in Sedona  Updated June 26

Striping of streets throughout the city is underway and will continue through the end of June.  Most work will be performed between the hours of  7 a.m. and 6 p.m., weather and temperature permitting.

The work will consist of restriping center lines, edge lines, crosswalks, stop bars, pavement arrows, "only" symbols and bike lanes. This work is occurring on city streets and does not include State Route 89A or State Route 179. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds through work areas, maintain a safe distance from work vehicles, and be cautious of wet paint.

Traffic Safety Incorporated of Prescott Valley is performing the work. For questions contact Sedona Right of Way Specialist Jerry Hutchison at (928) 203-5083.

Cactus Asphalt to perform road maintenance   Updated June 22

The city has contracted with Cactus Asphalt to perform road maintenance activities that will continue through June 30. Maintenance activities will consist of applying a fractured aggregate surface treatment (FAST). FAST will be applied to low volume residential roads that were crack sealed and prepared for treatment earlier in the year. Some edge of street repairs are also scheduled, prior to FAST, where needed.

FAST is an alternative to a typical mill and overlay used on low volume residential streets. The application provides a durable sealed surface over existing asphalt, extending the life of a road, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional overlay. “The FAST application will allow us to maintain more miles of residential streets per year,” said Stephen Craver, city engineering supervisor.

Construction activities will generally occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with traffic regularly restricted to a single lane, causing potential delays. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, as access to residential driveways will be restricted for up to an hour while Cactus Asphalt applies the FAST and fog seal treatments and allows them to cool and dry. On-street parking will also be restricted during construction. Traffic control will consist of signage, flagmen and the possible use of pilot vehicles. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds through work areas, maintain a safe distance from work vehicles, and be cautious of fresh asphalt, oils and striping.

Uptown traffic control  Map
Last updated June 22

The city continues work to support traffic flow for safety, and business and tourism support, in the Uptown area. The city may implement traffic control measures between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m., and may extend the hours if conditions change or traffic congestion increases. As a reminder, Uptown temporary traffic control may include any or all of the following; left turn restrictions, crosswalk control, pedestrian control, and an additional southbound lane on SR 89A between Forest Road and Amara Lane.

With full restrictions, northbound motorists traveling to Jordan Road businesses will be directed to Forest Road or Apple Avenue for access. These control measures will help visitors to access Uptown shops and keep traffic moving from the canyon.  Questions about Uptown traffic flow? Contact Jerry Hutchison, right of way specialist, at (928) 203-5083 or JHutchison@SedonaAZ.gov.

Get the Uptown traffic flow map that shows the restrictions.
