SEDONA, Ariz. -- The city of Sedona is pleased to announce a water efficiency program for the food service industry.

The Arizona Rinse Smart program offers a pre-rinse spray valve retrofit system that helps the environment and can help save money. The high velocity valves save water by more effectively removing food particles from dishes before they are placed in a commercial a dishwasher. The valves install in a matter of minutes.

Approximately two-thirds of the water used in a restaurant is used to wash dishes. In addition to using less water, Rinse Smart spray valves clean better and save energy. A medium-sized restaurant can save an average of 50,000 gallons of water per year with the program.

The program is free to all restaurant owners or food service businesses with a valid city of Sedona business license while supplies last. To pick up your valve, bring a copy of your license to the Sedona City Clerk’s office, 102 Roadrunner Dr. For more information call David Jakim, records clerk, at 928-203-5031.

Arizona Rinse Smart is funded by the Arizona Department of Water Resources and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
