Sedona Northern Lights spectacular Dec 14-17
SEDONA, Ariz. -- From Dec. 14-17, Sedona Northern Lights will bring Sedona’s stunning landscape to life.
Celebrate the holidays with the USA’s largest projection show on a natural canvas. Produced by Los Angeles-based PaintScaping, a world leader in 3D projection mapping, the light show will occur Dec. 14-17 and will showcase Sedona’s beauty, arts scene, dark skies and enchanting landscape.
3D projection mapping is a high-tech method of turning objects into display surfaces for video projection. An undertaking of this magnitude involves the testing and aligning of 14 individual projectors to get the images perfect. Testing and alignment will take place Dec 11-13 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. During this time, you can expect to see lights appearing and disappearing on different quadrants of the west-facing side of Camelhead mountain.
The final spectacular, showing Dec. 14-17, will transform the landscape into the nation’s largest natural 3D light painting experience. Sedona Northern Lights will kick off the 60th anniversary of the Sedona Arts Center, and the light-art show will be visible from all of Uptown and Gallery Row. The 5- to 6-minute art projections will occur at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. each night Dec. 14 through the 17th.
Sedona Northern Lights will bring together light, art and nature to create a festive and awe-inspiring family-friendly experience. Sedona Northern Lights is presented by the city of Sedona, Sedona Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, and Sedona Arts Center.
