Welcome to the City of Sedona Wastewater Utility Billing page. The City provides wastewater services to more than half of Sedona’s residents and businesses. The remaining services are provided through private sewer and septic systems. Sedona bills wastewater service fees on a monthly basis and in arrears. Typically, billing statements are mailed on the first day of each month and payment is due on the 15th of each month.
Establishing New Wastewater Service
Complete the applicable Application for Wastewater service and include a copy of your valid driver’s license or photo.
Please note that a $25 set up fee will be applied to the first billing for all new accounts, plus an additional $250 deposit (if applicable) for tenant accounts. The $250 deposit may be waived if the tenant can provide a recent letter of credit from a utility company showing one year of timely and consistent payments, and a copy of their lease. This deposit will be credited to their account after one year of timely payments, or if closing the account, will be applied to the final bill.

Charges and Fees
In 2013, the City of Sedona hired an independent consultant to conduct a cost of service study and to develop a financial plan for the City’s Wastewater Utility. A cost of service study evaluates the cost of providing wastewater service to the different customer classes served and determines whether the charges are proportional and equitable. The City’s Cost of Service Study found that some customer classes were paying more than the cost of providing service and others were paying less than the cost of service. Based on the results of the cost of service study, the City Council approved one-time revenue neutral changes among the different customer classes, effective July 1, 2014.
Unlike the cost of service study, which looks at the past, the financial plan projects future revenues and expenses, including capital costs, to determines if total revenues will be sufficient to meet the total expenses of the utility. As a result of the financial plan results, the City Council approved a 4% increase per year for the next six years, beginning July 1, 2014.
Members of the public had an opportunity to review the proposed changes during a 60-day notice period. After the 60 day period, citizens provided the City Council with feedback at the public hearing held on May 27, 2014.
