Clean up and reduce your wildfire risk by disposing of yard waste at the annual Debris Collection Event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17 – 20, 2021 at the city’s Maintenance Yard at 2070 Contractors Rd.
Creating a defensible space within 30 feet of your home can greatly reduce the risk of a wildfire. Tall, dry grasses provide a path for fire; by removing dry grasses, leaves, excess vegetation and pine needles from your roof and gutters, you reduce fire risk. Prune tree limbs so the lowest limb is between six to 10 feet from the ground.
The event is also an opportunity to remove debris in drainage areas prior to monsoon season. Shrubs, loose trimmings and yard waste in drainage ditches can block storm water flow, increasing the risk of flooding.
Accepted at the event:
- Brush
- Tree limbs and trunks
- Shrub trimmings
- Bagged leaves and pine needles
Not accepted:
- Cactus trimmings
- Appliances
- Hazardous materials
- Garbage
- Mattresses
- Other household waste
