  • 9 a.m.
  • FREE
  • Pavilion at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road
    • Storyteller and musician, Meg Bohrman, of Third Road Theater, presents an interactive journey of story and song, based on a traditional Zulu tale.  This is the timeless story of a woman’s journey to save her family and her community. Unanana and the Enormous One-tusked Elephant is a traditional Zulu folktale from East Africa, yet the themes within it are strikingly relevant today. It is a story of Love and Loss, Wounding and Healing, of Adventure, Passion, Determination and ultimately of the irrepressible Power of a Mother’s Love. Unanana, against her neighbor’s advice, stubbornly builds her house upon the animal’s road. This decision sets in motion a spirited set of events, that lead us all, eventually, to the very center of the  Belly of the Beast. Unanana and the Enormous One-tusked Elephant is brought to life through creative narration, drumming, music, song, hand-made carved masks, life-sized puppets and shadow puppetry.

Bring a blanket, and please respect social distancing. This program is appropriate for all ages!
