Park Ambassador Program

The Importance of Community Cleanups | Scenic America

Would you like to make a difference in your community? Join your friends and neighbors in the City of Sedona Park Ambassador program! The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is launching a new volunteer-driven program that is designed to promote community ownership and stewardship within our municipal parks.

Park Ambassadors will be engaging in cleanup and beautification initiatives in and around our parks, with the goal of building lasting connections in our community. In addition to park beautification, ambassadors may also sign up to volunteer at one of our many special events held in our parks throughout the year. Youth/Junior Park Ambassadors are welcome and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For more information, please reach out to the Parks and Recreation office at 928-282-7098 or by email at SedonaRec@SedonaAZ.gov.

Park Rangers

The Sedona Volunteer Park Ranger program is an all-volunteer program administered by the Parks and Recreation Department. The rangers

began operation in 2007 and continue providing services today with a group of highly professional, dedicated and friendly volunteers.

Rangers provide city-wide support

The rangers support the city and its Parks and Recreation Department by helping visitors and residents throughout Sedona; ensuring safety at events and appropriate use of parks; providing education about Sedona's cultural and natural heritage and amenities; and performing light trail conservation and maintenance work.

In their role as city ambassadors rangers talk to visitors, merchants and residents, provide information and directions, liaison with city staff members to address maintenance issues and concerns, provide event parking and traffic control, and help with special events. In an emergency, rangers may assist police and fire personnel.

Become a ranger

Applicants must pass a fingerprint and background check, and are asked to commit to an average of 4 to 6 volunteer hours per week. New volunteers receive an area orientation and training in visitor services, Forest Service orientation, and park patrol procedures.

Rangers wear a uniform provided by the city and are expected to demonstrate a high level of public service, patience and integrity.
