A decorative median on SR89A and a portion of Forest Road is part the completed Uptown Roadway Improvements Project. Details are available on the Uptown Roadways Improvement page.

Managing pedestrian movements will improve traffic flow and safety in Uptown, and help pedestrians more easily access businesses on both sides of Main Street. Improvements in hardscaping and landscaping will make Sedona's Uptown area more attractive and pedestrian-friendly.

In addition to the median, other ideas under consideration for the future include:

  • Crossing bridges with art elements improve safety and eliminate conflicts with traffic.
  • Remove crosswalk at Arroyo Roble. Direct pedestrians to bridges with art elements at Wayside Chapel and Jordan Road
  • Estimated cost is $7 million.
