Project Name: Uptown Parking Garage (link to project webpage)
Request/Project Summary: City-initiated request for the following to allow for development of a public parking garage:
- Major Community Plan Amendment (Major CPA) to redesignate the subject properties from Single-family Low Density (0.5-2 units per acre) to Commercial
- Zone Change (ZC) from RS-18 (Single Family Residential) to M3 (Mixed Use Activity Center)
- Development Review (DEV) for design of parking garage
Location: 430 & 460 Forest Road (APN 401-16-071 & -100)
Project Status: Planning and Zoning Commission approved the design of the garage on March 19, 2024.
On November 15, 2023, City Council was presented with the findings and recommendations of the Uptown Parking Alternative Analysis and Site Selection and directed Staff to develop a plan for employee parking, employ guidance technology in conjunction with the parking garage project, finalize a plan for consolidation of the existing public parking lots and on-street parking, and restrict nonresident parking on residential streets, and agreed the garage must be fully funded by user fees.
City Council approved Major CPA and ZC at public hearing September 15, 2021.
