  • No firearms or any other weapons are permitted. This includes explosives, swords, knives, utility blades, razor blades, pepper spray, mace or other dangerous or hazardous materials.        
  • Do not bring food or beverages except water in a capped bottle. Do not chew gum.
  • Sit quietly when court is in session. The proceedings are being recorded and background noise may interfere with the quality of the recording.
  • Reading newspapers in the courtroom is not allowed.
  • When addressing the judge, you may sit or stand at counsel tables or stand at the podium. 
  • Do not approach the bench without permission of the judge.
  • Pagers and cell phones should be turned off in the courtroom.
  • The taking of photographs or recording proceedings is strictly prohibited.  If you need an audio recording of a hearing please contact court staff.
  • Smoking is prohibited by law in all government buildings. There are smoking areas outside the court building.
  • Avoid bringing young children to court. If you must, please monitor their behavior so they remain quiet. Parents may be asked to leave the courtroom with disruptive children.
  • Please dress appropriately. T-shirts that carry offensive slogans or pictures are not allowed.  Also not permitted are short shorts, cut off jeans, tube tops, bare midriffs, low cut shirts or any other excessively revealing attire. Hats and sunglasses must be removed before entering the courtroom.  Shoes are required. 
  • Ensure that you have made provisions in advance for the care of your children if there is a possibility that you could be booked into jail immediately after a court proceeding.
