The Sedona Police Department’s Community Police Academy is a free program designed for residents of Sedona and members of the business community. The goal of the Community Police Academy is to create open communication between our community members and Sedona Police Department staff. This firsthand engagement with law enforcement personnel will help citizens foster a better understanding of the Police Department’s role within the community and foster a collaborative relationship. The police personnel are afforded direct interaction with community members to better understand what they value and gain perspective of community goals.
Class Schedule
The eight-week program will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 PM starting on Oct. 8, 2024.
It is for residents of Sedona and members of the business community and helps create open communication between the department’s community members and the Sedona Police Department staff. The police personnel’s direct interaction with community members will help them better understand what they value and gain perspective of community goals.
Course curriculum includes:
- Patrol procedures
- Crime scene investigations (fingerprinting and DNA collection)
- Traffic control (DUI, motorcycle detail and collision)
- Firearms
- Use of force
- Investigations
- Specialty assignments: K-9, Narcotics Detective, School Resource Officer, Community Service Officer, motor officers and Community Service Aid
- Volunteers
- Explorer Program
- Police communication (dispatch)

The first class will be held at the City of Sedona Vultee Conference Room

Fill out this application form, and return it to Sgt. Brandon Bergstad at bbergstad@sedonaaz.gov or drop it off at the Sedona Police Department Lobby.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Seats are limited to 15 individuals.
- Applications must be received by Sept. 22, 2024. Any incomplete and/or unsigned applications will not be considered for participation.
